For this assignment you will create a blog post on one of the following prompts:

1.What do you think the theme of Shakespeare's Macbeth is? Use textual evidence to prove why you think it is the theme of the play. 

2. Explain a character who drives the theme of the story, how do they change over the course of the text?

3. Write a summary of the story and choose one relevant quote in the text to describe it further. 

You can use videos and photos to enhance your blog post, but make sure to write a minimum of 5-8 sentences. Once you are done, encourage your peers to comment on your posts. Create a discussion :)

I think the theme of Macbeth by William Shakespeare is to watch for the dangers of ambition. Macbeth murders and commits many wrongs because his dangerous ambition. He kills the King after he was told a prophesy that he would be in power in the case of the king's death. Macbeth had a strong ambition that he went to great lengths to make happen. Macbeth even goes to the length of killing his best friend because of the prophesy. The prophesy states that his friend, Banquo's descendants will sit on the throne. Macbeth is even aware of his terrible ambition, before he kills the king. Lady Macbeth Drives The Ambition [Example] Student Post

I think one character who drives the story in  Macbeth was his wife, Lady Macbeth. After hearing the prophesy, Lady Macbeth encourages her husband, Macbeth, to kill King Duncan. She convinces her husband he must commit this heinous deed for them to reap the benefits of the throne in Scotland. The character changes over the text as the guilt of killing the king, hits her. After the death of the king, she becomes very strange and mad because of the torment that fills her mind. Later in the play she scrubs an invisible 'blood' stain in her dress aimlessly. Finally, Lady Macbeth is overcome with guilt to the point that she commits suicide. One can argue that Macbeth would not have went forward with his plan to kill the king without the encouragement of his wife; so, she drives the story forward a lot in this way. Summary of Macbeth [Example] Student Post

View Assignment Here 3. Write a summary of the story and choose one relevant quote in the text to describe it further.  Shakespeare's Macbeth starts off with two war heroes Banquo, and Macbeth. The pair are confronted by three witches who claim that Macbeth will be the king and Thane of Cawdor, while Banquo's descendants will also sit on the throne in Scotland. Once arriving back to Scotland, Macbeth is named the Thane, so he begins to believe that he will be king. To become king, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth kill King Duncan. Macbeth becomes king soon after, and becomes set on killing Banquo's family, so they can never sit on the throne. Banquo's son survives the attacks. King Duncan's sons soon become suspicious that Macbeth murdered their father, so they send armies after him. In the end, Macduff kills Macbeth, and Banquo's son takes the throne.
